What are PAR LED Bulbs?
PAR stands for Parabolic Aluminized Reflector. PAR LED bulbs are specially designed LED bulbs that have a reflective housing to focus light into a tight beam. They are excellent for applications where directed or focused light is needed.
PAR LED bulbs consist of multiple LEDs housed inside a reflective casing. The casing is designed to focus the light produced by the LEDs into a concentrated beam.
DIfferent PAR bulb models
There are many different PAR models in the market. What is the difference?
What Does the Number After PAR Mean?
The number on a LED PAR Bulb refers to the diameter of the lamp (not the base size) measured in terms by eighths of an inch. The PAR number can be easily converted to inches by multiplying the PAR number x 1/8 (0,125).
So PAR20 bulb, has a diameter of 20 x 1/8ths or 2,5 inches or 63,5mm
. The dimensions for the most common PAR Bulbs are below:
PAR Bulb Number | Bulb Diameter |
16 | 2 inches (50mm) |
20 | 2,5 inches (63,5mm) |
30 | 3,75 inches (95mm) |
36 | 4,5 inches (112,5mm) |
Key Features and Specifications
Luminosity and Beam Angles
PAR LED bulbs are known for high luminosity and are available in various beam angles from narrow spotlights to broader floodlights.
Currently we have only most popular PAR20 models witth 45 degrees light beam in stock.
Energy Efficiency
LED PAR bulbs are more energy-efficient than traditional halogen PAR bulbs and have a much lower power consumption for the same amount of light.
Durability and Lifespan
With a typical lifespan of around 25,000 to 50,000 hours, our PAR LED bulbs last significantly longer than their halogen counterparts. Our E27 PAR led spotlight comes with a 3 year warranty.
Our calculated lifetime is 35,000 hours, which will be reached after 12 years with, for example, 8 hours of daily, year-round use!
Applications and Use Cases
We recommend using Led Store's advanced dimmable led PAR spot in place of all halogens. The E27 PAR bulb meets the needs of even the most demanding user thanks to its high colour rendering, as well as its very accurate Kelvin reading. 4000K is exactly 4000K in this spot!
Residential
In homes, PAR LED bulbs are often used for task lighting, accent lighting, and outdoor lighting due to their directional capabilities. Ideal for use with carefully selected furnishings. Neutral 4000K model is more suitable for clean looking homes and with decorations thatwon want that "yellowish" hue.
Commercial
In commercial settings, they are commonly used in retail displays, theaters, and as spotlights in events. Also in showrooms. Neutral 4000K is usually used at stores that want clean look.
Specialized Uses
PAR LED bulbs are also used in photography and videography for controlled lighting effects. These require very high CRI.
Installation and Maintenance
Installation Tips
Ensure the fixture is compatible with the PAR LED bulb size and wattage. Turn off the power before changing bulbs, and secure the bulb firmly in its socket.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
PAR LED bulbs require minimal maintenance. If a bulb isn’t working, check if it's securely installed or if the fixture is receiving power.
Environmental Considerations
Energy Savings
The energy efficiency of PAR LED bulbs can lead to significant energy savings and a reduction in electricity bills.
Reduction in Carbon Footprint
By using less energy, PAR LED bulbs help in reducing the carbon footprint and contribute to environmental conservation.
Integration with Smart Home Systems
PAR LED bulbs are increasingly being integrated with smart home systems for remote control and automation. We can make ZIGBEE PAR bubls if you need, but minimum is 500pcs.
Dimming
The spot is dimmable, but many dimmers require a 36W load to work properly. If you only want to dim one bulb, a working dimmer for that purpose can be found from us.
Please note that all the dimmers below require a model specific minimum load to work!
Schneider (tested with 36W load)
Incandescent dimmer 10-100%
315 RC (transistor) 10-100%
420 RCL 10-100%
600 RCRL 10-100%
ABB (tested with 36W load)
