The project is an apartment where Anna lives with her three children and the family’s two cats. In addition to the lighting, the renovation included all surfaces and built-in furniture, including the kitchen. The design was carried out by Carita Ahonen from CA Design, who managed the entire project while the family was living abroad. Carita consulted LedStore’s Liisa Korhonen regarding the lighting to ensure that the final result met the family’s wishes.
Lighting wishes
Anna wanted the lighting to help create a warm, atmospheric, and joyful home — a place where every family member would feel comfortable. The luminaires were to be beautiful yet subtle. For the light color, she wished for a 3000K warm white, which is widely perceived as cozy and relaxing.
As someone with sensory sensitivity, Anna wanted to avoid bright overhead lighting, as she finds it distracting and less comfortable. Instead, she hoped for multiple light sources throughout the space, allowing the atmosphere to be adjusted simply by turning some lights off without leaving the room too dark.
In collaboration with CA Design
CA Design has been a LedStore client for quite some time, and working with Carita has always been seamless. She has a strong grasp of the overall vision for each project and is able to translate the client’s needs into a well-executed plan. Carita also knows the right questions to ask, ensuring that the installation team is fully informed about details such as luminaire placement and electrical requirements. When the lighting design is developed in collaboration with the interior designer, the result is a clear, cohesive solution that suits the client’s décor and wishes perfectly.
The end result
The lighting turned out exactly as hoped. All luminaires were selected in a 3000K color temperature, just as wished from the beginning. Every light is also dimmable, making it easy to adjust the atmosphere and soften the lighting whenever it feels too bright.
Recessed round panels were chosen as the general lighting for the entrance ceiling, while a similar surface-mounted model was used in the kitchen. The luminaires are very discreet, especially against a white ceiling. The panels provide a wide light distribution, which helps minimize glare. In this project, the color temperature was selected during installation, but the recessed model can also be connected to a continuous, adjustable color-temperature system if desired.

Custom-made LED strips and profiles were ordered from LedStore for the wall shelves in both the kitchen and the bedroom. The chosen profile is recessed and directs light at a 45-degree angle toward the wall behind the shelf. This creates a lighting solution that is both subtle and completely glare-free. The profile’s matte copper finish complements the warm wood tones beautifully.

What would you change now?
We asked Anna what she would change about the lighting now that some time has passed since the renovation was completed. One idea was to add LED strips under the open shelves in the living room as well, which would create a pleasant reading and accent light when relaxing on the sofa. Anna also thought it would be useful to have lighting inside the bedroom wardrobe. That way, she could see her clothes without turning on the ceiling lights, and the light wouldn’t disturb anyone else. At the moment, she has solved this by choosing the next day’s clothes already in the evening.
