Information on installing LedStore products

Here you will find basic information on installing different types of LedStore lights. As a rule, all lights and drivers connected directly to mains voltage must be installed by a qualified electrician, except for models supplied with a plug.

You may carry out the low-voltage (12–36V) connections of LED strips yourself. All 230V LED strip connections must always be performed by a licensed electrician.

Through our custom-made service, you can order LED strips as ready-to-install assemblies. If desired, we can also supply the driver with a pre-installed plug.

When choosing lights, please consider at least the following:

Installation of recessed LED spotlights and panels

Cut-out size

Recessed led lights require a cut-out in the ceiling. The required cut-out size is listed in the product specifications on our website.

Accuracy is important, as some models have relatively narrow trim rings. We recommend purchasing a sample light to make planning the ceiling structure and installation easier.

LedStore’s TRIAC-dimmable basic drivers for spotlights and panels always fit through the lights cut-out into the ceiling. These drivers also include a junction box and a colour temperature selector.

When using one driver for a group of lights, the driver is typically larger than the cut-out of one light and requires an access hatch. A panel light can also function as an access hatch. Group drivers are commonly used with lights that you want in continuous CCT adjustment.

We recommend using a line laser, especially when installing square lights in plasterboard ceilings, to ensure perfectly aligned cut-outs.

With our largest panels, ceiling flatness also matters. In older buildings, ceilings are not always perfectly even, which may affect how flush the panel sits against the surface.

Required installation depth

Recessed LED lights require a suspended ceiling. The required depth depends on the light and driver height. Dimensions are listed in the product information on our website.

Installation depth consists of ceiling material + battens. A common setup of 48 mm battens and 13 mm plasterboard provides 62 mm of depth for a recessed light and 48 mm of driver clearance (as the driver is installed fully above the ceiling).

LedStore panel housings are only 11 mm thick, allowing installation into any ceiling material thicker than 11 mm without cutting battens. However, ensure the mounting springs are not positioned directly where the batten is.

Typical installation depths:

Additional notes

LedStore LED spots and panels can be installed directly against wood or plasterboard without fire risk and do not require protective covers. However, we recommend leaving 1–2 cm of air space above the light for ventilation.

Lights must not be installed directly against vapor barriers or insulation. We recommend adding a board or plasterboard section between the battening and vapor barrier to prevent contact. The more cooling space a luminaire has, the longer its lifespan.

Installation of surface-mounted ceiling lights

Installation of ceiling lights

LedStore surface-mounted plafonds include an integrated driver, and the colour temperature is selected during installation using a switch (except for some single-color models). These lights connect directly to mains voltage and must be installed by an electrician.

All surface-mounted lights require removal of the ceiling hook cover and direct mounting to the ceiling. In some models, mounting points align with junction box screw locations, avoiding additional drilling. Details are listed in the product specifications.

Installation of surface-mounted panels

For surface-mounted lights with continuous CCT adjustment, we recommend LED panels with surface-mount frames, such as:

For square panels, three sides of the frame are mounted first, the panel is slid into place, the driver is connected to mains, and finally the last side is secured. For the round 240 panel, the frame is mounted first, followed by electrical connection and panel installation. All mains connections must be performed by an electrician.

Installation of pendant lights

Pendant lights usually require removal of the ceiling hook cover and connection to mains voltage. This is electrical work and must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Pendants are mounted directly to the ceiling. In some models, mounting points align with junction box screws, eliminating the need for additional holes.

Several LedStore pendants, such as the Rinkeli series, can be ordered with continuous CCT adjustment. Their large ceiling canopies allow space for drivers such as Zigbee, making them compatible with systems like Philips Hue.

Installation of three-phase track lights

You may install the track lights onto a three-phase track yourself. Insert the adapter into the track and lock it using the levers. Select the desired phase using the rotary selector on the adapter.

For the FOKUS track spotlight, the white light colour temperature can be selected using a switch on the light.

Note: installation of the three-phase track itself requires an electrician, as it connects to mains voltage.

Installation of wall lights

LedStore offers wall lights for both indoor and outdoor areas. All surface-mounted wall lights have an integrated driver. Most are non-dimmable, except for FUNK and XL Cubic models. Wall lights are not loop-through connectable.

Direct mains connection requires an electrician. The backplate is mounted first, followed by wiring. Some models are available with a pre-installed plug, allowing self-installation, such as:

Installation of illuminated mirrors

LedStore illuminated mirrors include a plug and can be installed by the user. Mirrors are mounted with 2–4 screws. Pre-drilled holes are provided, though additional holes can be drilled if needed.

Note: Mirrors include touch controls and must be installed as intended.

The plug can be removed for permanent installation, but this must be done by an electrician.

Installation of outdoor bollard lights

Outdoor bollards are fixed, mains-connected LED lights and must be installed by an electrician. They are mounted via a base plate to a foundation or deck surface.

Bollards are generally not loop-through connectable, except for Pillar FUNK and Pillar TILT2, which allow internal cabling through the hollow body. Otherwise, loop-through is typically done via a nearby junction box.

Installation of LED strips

You may extend LED strips and attach lead wires yourself for 12–36V strips, if you know what you are doing. We recommend using an electrician for driver connections and voltage drop calculations for longer led strips to ensure safety and longevity.

Drivers that include a plug can be connected by the user. You can order LED strips cut to length and drivers pre-fitted with plugs, allowing full self-installation.

IMPORTANT: All 230V LED strip connections must be carried out by an electrician. You may order 230V LED strips with a plug and pre-installed in profiles, which can then be plugged into a socket.

LedStore is not responsible for product damage caused by incorrect installation, even during the warranty period. Please review the LED strip specifications on the product pages before installation.
