Sauna LED strip lighting – plan it and get the price

Draw the benches, mark the heater and choose where the light goes. The planner picks a heat-tolerant low-power strip and profile, sizes them to your benches and suggests a driver and controls. Our LED Paja workshop cuts the profiles and solders the strips to your exact measurements.

How the planner works

  1. Bench shape. Choose straight, L-shaped, U-shaped or opposite benches and enter the sauna dimensions.
  2. Benches and heater. Drag the upper bench, lower bench, step, backrest and heater into place and stretch them to size. Choose the wood type, as dark wood needs more light.
  3. Light positions. Choose behind the backrest (up or down), under the upper bench, under the lower bench or step, step lighting or along the ceiling. The light is interrupted at the heater automatically.
  4. Strip and profile. For each position the planner shows sauna-suitable strips and estimates the light level. The most popular choice is 3.6 W/m CCT, which handles heat best.
  5. Control and quote. Choose the driver location and control (Zigbee, wall dimmer or switch), review the package and send a quote request. You receive the plan as a PDF by email.

Good to know about sauna LED lights

  • Saunas use low-power 3.6–7.2 W/m strips: less self-heating and a longer life.
  • The driver does not belong in the hot part of the sauna: it goes under the benches at floor level or in the washroom ceiling.
  • Lights are never installed above the heater.
  • Hard-wired connections are made by an electrician; follow your local regulations.

FAQ: sauna LED lighting

Can an LED strip withstand sauna heat?

Yes, when the strip is chosen and installed correctly. For saunas we recommend low-power 3.6–7.2 W/m strips in an aluminium profile: low power means less self-heating, and the profile conducts heat away. Lights are never installed above the heater or right next to it.

Which strip is best for a sauna?

The best choice is a 3.6 W/m CCT strip, 2500–6500 K: it is soft and atmospheric and, thanks to its low power, handles heat best. If you want more light, choose a 7.2 W/m strip in warm 3000 K, neutral 4000 K or tunable CCT.

Where in the sauna should the lights go?

The most popular positions are behind the backrest (light up or down), under the upper bench and under the lower bench or step. On the ceiling, light is installed only above the benches. Two positions often make a good combination: backrest up and under the bench.

Can a light be installed above the heater?

No. The temperature is clearly highest above the heater, so a ceiling light is always interrupted at the heater. The planner does this automatically when you mark the heater position.

Where does the driver go?

The driver does not belong in the hot part of the sauna. It goes under the benches at floor level, where it is coolest, or in the washroom’s suspended ceiling. In the washroom the supply cable needs a longer run, 4 m by default.

Do I need an electrician?

Hard-wired connections and sauna electrical work are always done by an electrician. LED Paja delivers the light strips pre-soldered with cables, so installation is quick. Our installation service covers about 50 km around the Vantaa store.

How do the lights work with L- or U-shaped benches?

At the corner the strips are joined with a 5 cm cable. The profile length depends on the position: next to the wall the profile runs the full length of the wall, but at the front edge of the bench it is shorter at the corner by the bench depth. For example, 100 + 100 cm along the back walls becomes 50 + 50 cm at the front edge when the bench is 50 cm deep.

Can sauna lights be dimmed and the tone adjusted?

Yes. With Zigbee control you can dim the lights, and with a CCT strip also adjust the tone from warm to bright. The button is installed outside the sauna, and control also works with the app.

How long can the profiles be?

By post we deliver pieces of up to 150 cm. A longer run is split into pieces joined with a soldered cable. When collected from the store, a piece can be longer.

What is included in the price?

Strip and aluminium profile cut to size, opal covers, end caps and clips, soldered cables and assembly at LED Paja, €32.50 per profile. The driver and controls are chosen in the planner.
