Kitchen LED strip lighting – plan it and get the price
Draw your kitchen, choose where the light goes and get a complete parts list with prices. Our LED Paja workshop cuts the profiles and solders the strips to your exact measurements, so on site you just press the profile into its clips and plug in the driver.
How the planner works
- Kitchen shape. Choose a straight, L-shaped, U-shaped or parallel kitchen. From the shape, the planner knows the corners and walls.
- Cabinets. Draw the wall and base cabinets with their widths. Mark the cooker hood, a window, a tall unit or an integrated fridge – they get no light, and the strip continues past them with a link cable.
- Lights. Choose the light positions: worktop under the wall cabinets, on top of the cabinets, plinth, display cabinet or open shelf. The planner suggests a suitable strip and profile for each and estimates the light level (lux) on the worktop. You can remove the light from a single cabinet, for example at the dishwasher in the plinth.
- Control. Group the lights and choose how to control them: Zigbee button and app, wall dimmer, wall switch, a switch soldered to the profile, or a motion sensor. The planner picks a driver that matches the power.
- Package and quote. You see the product lines and the total price, can swap individual products and send a quote request. You receive a workshop card (PDF) by email with the measurements, cable positions and 3D images of your kitchen.
Included in the price

- Assembly at LED Paja, €32.50 per profile (cutting and soldering)
- Driver and the controls you choose, tested
Good to know before you start
- You only need the cabinet widths. The planner makes each profile 2 cm shorter at both ends.
- For the worktop we recommend at least 14 W/m; for the plinth and on top of cabinets 3–7 W/m is enough.
- All strips are 24 V. The driver goes on top of or inside a wall cabinet.
- By post we ship pieces of up to 150 cm. Longer runs are split and joined with a soldered cable.
Frequently asked questions
Which LED strip is best for lighting the worktop?
For task light, a 14–24 W/m strip in neutral 4000 K or warm 3000 K is the usual choice. For an open-plan kitchen, a CCT strip lets you adjust the colour temperature from warm to neutral. The planner shows each strip’s lumens per metre and estimates how many lux reach the worktop with your profile and mounting position.
Which strip suits ambient light in the plinth or on top of the cabinets?
3–7 W/m is enough for the plinth and on top of cabinets. The light reflects off the floor or ceiling, so lower power feels more pleasant. If you want to change the mood, choose a CCT, RGBW or RGB+CCT strip with dimmable control.
What is the difference between 3000 K, 4000 K and CCT?
3000 K is a warm, slightly yellowish light that brings out wood tones. 4000 K is a neutral white that does not change the colours of materials. A CCT strip has both kinds of LEDs, and you adjust the colour temperature with a button or the app.
How is the LED profile mounted?
The clips supplied with the profile are screwed to the underside of the cabinet about every 50 cm, and the profile is pressed into them. Near the front edge the light spreads evenly over the whole worktop; a corner profile at the back reflects the light off the splashback.
How are the cables routed and where does the driver go?
One cable leaves the end of the profile and runs up the back corner of the cabinet to the top, where the driver usually sits. In the planner you choose which end the supply comes from; the default length is 2 m and can be changed. Several profiles can share one driver, for example on both sides of the cooker hood.
How does the strip continue around a corner, cooker hood or window?
At corners, a cable of about 5 cm is soldered between the two profiles. It bends to any angle and makes shipping easier. At a cooker hood, window or tall unit, the runs are joined with a link cable or each run gets its own supply cable to the driver. The workshop card shows the cable positions in the drawing.
Can I install the lights myself or do I need an electrician?
With a plug-in driver no electrical work is needed: mount the profile, run the cable to the driver and plug it into a socket. You need an electrician if the driver is hard-wired, a wall dimmer is installed or a new socket is needed. Always follow your local electrical regulations.
How are the lights controlled?
There are five options: a wireless Zigbee button (also app and smart home), a wall dimmer with a TRIAC driver, a standard wall switch, a touch or wave switch soldered to the profile, and a motion sensor. In the planner you group the lights – for example worktop and wall cabinets separately – and choose the control for each group.
Can the light be controlled from two places?
Yes. Choose Zigbee control and two buttons. One button can also control several groups, and for CCT lights there are buttons that adjust both brightness and colour temperature.
Can an LED strip replace old halogen spots or fluorescent tubes?
Yes, and we recommend it. Spots create pools of light and shadows, while a profile lights the worktop evenly. The spot holes can be filled and covered with furniture film before mounting the profile.
Why does an LED strip need an aluminium profile?
Aluminium conducts heat away from the LEDs, which extends the strip’s life many times over. The opal cover smooths the light and removes visible dots and glare, and the profile mounts neatly and is easy to clean.
How long can the profiles be?
By post we ship pieces of up to 150 cm. A longer run is split into pieces that are mounted end to end and joined with a cable. The planner splits the runs automatically.
What if I give a wrong measurement?
Contact us right away and we will correct it before production. Check the measurements on the workshop card before ordering. A profile that is too long can usually be shortened; one that is too short has to be remade. Corrections after a measuring error are charged.
Is there a warranty on made-to-measure products?
Light strips made at LED Paja have a 3-year warranty. Drivers have a 3- or 5-year warranty depending on the model. When a strip eventually reaches the end of its life, it can be replaced in the same profile.
Do you ship outside Finland?
Yes, we ship made-to-measure light strips across Europe. The only limit is the parcel length: pieces of up to 150 cm by post.
