How does the Zigbee HUB work?
The Zigbee HUB is a hub that acts as the brain of the Zigbee system, but it is not mandatory for the use of Zigbee lights. You can also operate your Zigbee devices with just a wireless control button or remote control without any automation. A Zigbee HUB connected to your router gives your home or office more possibilities, such as timers, automatic sunrise and sunset control, as well as thermostats, curtain controls, door sensors, leak detectors, alarms, etc... So with a HUB you take full control! The devices create their own mesh network, and don't need an internet connection to work perfectly as part of your smart home.
Local use
Does the Zigbee Hub work without internet? Yes! You can connect it to your home network (LAN local area network) and block its access to the internet completely.
Control lights remotely
You can control the lights in your home or turn on the heating in your cottage remotely if you allow the HUB to access the internet and create a cloud account for yourself. This feature is also free of charge!
Azoula Smart mobile app as user interface
Zigbee smart control can be enabled by choosing a LedStore Zigbee hub, for example, and downloading the Azoula Smart app for Android or iOS as an interface to your devices. LedStore's Zigbee devices also work with other hubs and their interfaces.
If you need wireless control of your luminaires without timers or smart controls or adding other sensing devices or mobile control (mobile phone or tablet), a Zigbee receiver and a button controller/regulator are sufficient. Ask us for more information!
Zigbee HUB practical features
Zigbee offers several advanced features designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.
Circadian rhythm
As the first easy-to-use Zigbee HUB, it supports the natural human circadian rhythm. Cool white light in the morning, warmer in the evening and dimming towards night. The Azoula app allows you to adjust the settings freely: set colour temperatures, add event points and customise dimming levels.

The function requires CCT adjustable luminaires.
Automation
The software supports free automations, such as
- Motion detected, turn on lights. Requires 4in1 multisensor.
- Temperature is too low, turn on heating. Requires Zigbee thermostat.
- Lights were at 50% but motion is detected so raise power to 100% and then turn off when motion stopped. Requires 4in1 multisensor.
- Automatic timing to turn lights on and off at specific times of the day.
- Daylight harvesting, the software adjusts the brightness of the lights according to the amount of natural light in the room. Requires Requires 4in1 sensor.
Scenet, or lighting scenarios
Ability to store your own preset lighting scenes for each room, freely, according to your needs, such as
- evening lighting situation: lights on warm and slightly dimmer
- mood lighting: spotlights off and only the LED strip remains on, in the desired colour
- work mode: lights to a crisp cool tone and bright
Toys
Make your own light programmes! You can implement your own recurring commands, such as
- a light that flashes three times when motion is detected by a motion sensor. Requires 4in1 sensor
- RGB colour changing on desired cycle and with desired colours
- you can invent more yourself
Device management made easy
Freely add and control your lighting with LedStore's own Zigbee products such as:
- Zigbee buttons and remote controls
- Zigbee bulbs E27
- Zigbee transformers (CCT, RGB)
- Zigbee controllers, receivers (CCT, RGB, RGB+CCT)
- Zigbee socket switches
- Zigbee relays
- Zigbee floor heating thermostat
- Zigbee door sensor
- Zigbee multisensor (4in1 heat, light, motion, humidity)
By getting our four-button Friends of HUE button, you can trigger any automation or situation directly from the wall button! In fact, you can store a command for each of the 4 buttons.
You will get the most benefit by using our colour temperature controlled LED lights (CCT) which allow you to adjust the white light continuously according to the situation. Dimming is included in all our continuously variable luminaires, and in most of our other luminaires.
So Zigbee can also control the colour (RGB) and temperature (CCT) of LED lights, but often both at the same time. (RGB+CCT). The most popular uses for colour are children's rooms, cinema rooms, fireplace rooms.
Overall, Zigbee control is a powerful and versatile way to control LED lights indoors and outdoors. It is particularly well suited for large-scale, whole-house installations and integrates with other smart home devices.
Energy consumption monitoring
Want to know how much energy your lighting is actually consuming? The app gives you a convenient way to see the total consumption by device, by room or the total consumption of all devices for the desired time periods. The actual consumption data for each individual device must be entered into the application during the setup phase.

What is Zigbee?
Zigbee is a wireless technology that allows remote control, dimming and colour temperature control of LED lights. It is based on the Zigbee wireless communication protocol, an open standard widely used in the Internet of Things (IoT).
One of Zigbee's main advantages is its ability to support a large number of devices on a single network. This makes it ideal for use not only in private homes as a control system, but also in large lighting installations such as commercial buildings or industrial plants. The network is also highly reliable, with minimal latency and a high level of security.
Another advantage of Zigbee is its compatibility with a wide range of devices. This includes not only LED lights but also other Zigbee-enabled devices such as thermostats and curtain controllers. This allows for easy integration with other smart home devices, and users can control multiple devices with a single app or controller. You can easily find more Zigbee devices from various suppliers as there are many Zigbee manufacturers.
The benefits of Zigbee in a nutshell:
Lightweight and easy: Optimized for low power consumption to extend device lifetime and easy do-it-yourself use in consumer and commercial applications.
Proven, self-healing network: a self-organizing, self-healing network topology. The network between devices scales to thousands of nodes and has been proven through nearly a decade of improvements in real-world environments.
Engineered security: AES-128-bit message encryption and authentication, certificates and elliptic encryption protect personal data and device authentication from neighbouring networks.
Unified protocol: freedom to choose devices and vendors. A rich protocol provides a universal language that allows devices to work together regardless of brand.
2.4 and Sub-GHz PHY support: Zigbee PHY supports both 2.4 and Sub-GHz frequencies to cover the widest range of installations and applications.
The Zigbee protocol is maintained and controlled by the Zigbee Alliance. Zigbee is included in the upcoming Matter protocol, making Zigbee a secure solution for the future!

The pros and cons of Zigbee
No system is perfect and below are some of the good and bad points of Zigbee:
The benefits of Zigbee:
Ease of use: Zigbee dimming is very easy to use, requiring no extra wiring or complicated installation process. It can be easily integrated into existing lighting systems, and users can control the brightness of their lights with a smartphone or tablet app.
Scalability: the Zigbee dimmer is highly scalable, so it can be used in small or large lighting systems. It can be used to control a single light or an entire building lighting system. Because it uses a Mesh architecture, the network can be expanded almost infinitely.
Low power consumption. For example, a door sensor with batteries can last up to 2 years at a time.
Self-repairing network: Zigbee creates a Mesh network, so if the signal does not reach its destination directly, other devices will relay it.
Weaknesses of Zigbee:
Limited range: the range of the Zigbee signal is limited to 20 meters, which means that individual devices cannot be more than 20 meters apart without repeaters or other Zigbee devices in between . This can be a problem, for example in outdoor environments.
Interference: a Zigbee device can be subject to interference from other wireless devices, which can cause lights to flicker or not work at all. This challenge is overcome by selecting a different frequency for the system, e.g. from the Azoula app.
Compatibility between brands: not all Zigbee devices are made equal. All Zigbee devices are not made from the same brand, they just don't necessarily work seamlessly together. This is a software issue, not a hardware issue. A knowledgeable salesperson will be able to tell you more about the compatibility of the app they are selling.
