Led lights for bathroom

Led lights are perfect for bathroom lighting. They are long-lasting, stylish and energy-efficient, which is a great advantage especially when recessed into ceiling structures. We have luminaires both spot and panel for a wide range of lighting needs in bathrooms of all sizes. Bathrooms need good general lighting for laundry, good spotlighting for make-up or shaving, and dimmable lighting for sauna and bath time if required.

When choosing LED luminaires for humid areas, care must be taken with the moisture protection of the products. In our bathroom category you will find products suitable for humid areas, with a minimum protection class of IP class - IP44, and CE and RoHS approved.

Bathroom lighting and moisture protection

Bathroom luminaires are a product group of their own, as bathroom lighting requires the right protection class. In Finland, TUKES controls where bathroom lighting can be installed. Depending on the location, LED luminaires with IP21, Ip44 or higher enclosure class can be installed in the bathroom. When installing, the location of water points must be taken into account. This list shows typical IP classes:

• IP21 bathroom luminaires: suitable for locations where the water point can be measured at least 120cm from the water point, on the ceiling if the room height is at least 225cm.
• IP44 bathroom luminaires: all lighting locations, at least 170cm from the floor.
• IP54 bathroom luminaires: same rules apply as for IP44 bathroom luminaires.
• IP65 bathroom luminaires: Same rules as IP44 bathroom luminaires, but the luminaire itself is resistant to direct water.

Please note that for bathroom lighting matters in the IP class only the latter number counts. Note: In the case of bathroom lighting fixtures, only the first number means the second number. The first number is the dust rating.

Bathroom lighting by area

Bathroom lighting can be implemented in many ways and in lighting design it is done in layers. We recommend at least 2, preferably 3 lighting layers. This means that the bathroom lighting is done with, for example, general lighting (ceiling light), indirect lighting (LED strip) and wall lighting (mirror light). Good lighting takes into account the need for space.

Bathroom lighting with LED strip

The most popular method of bathroom lighting is indirect lighting. Indirect lighting is constructed by leaving the ceiling tiles off the wall/tile, thus creating a recess. An LED strip light in an aluminium profile is then installed at the ceiling line of the bathroom. This way we get the light coming out between the ceiling panel and the wall. It is good to remember that on the wall the tiling is raised up to the top.

Indirect lighting is never sufficient as the only lighting method in a bathroom, but should be supplemented by installing, for example, a ceiling light.

Led strip lighting always has an external power supply, which must be taken into account when installing it.Usually it is installed on top of the ceiling panel and the service hatch is an LED panel style ceiling light.

Bathroom lights with led spotlights or led panels

In the bathroom, led spots are an effective way of providing spotlighting and can also be used to provide general lighting in small bathrooms. LedStore has a wide range of options for spot lighting in wet areas. If you want to illuminate with light from above the shower, for example, you should choose a product with IP 54 protection, which protects the luminaire from water splashes. Led spots can also be used to illuminate shelves, for example, or to highlight details.

For the bathroom, stylish recessed or surface-mounted led panels, and led plafonds, which come in a wide range of sizes, provide uniform general lighting. Surface-mounted panels are 25-50mm high, making a low-profile ceiling light. Quality, elegance and high colour rendering are standard in our products.

Bathrooms often have low spaces, so it is also an advantage for the LED luminaire that the ceiling light is low. Our products, such as the Plafonde, have a special low profile frame (12 mm), so they can be easily installed in tight spaces.The luminaires come with their own chainable power supply, which fits through the mounting hole into the space between the luminaires.

Led spots and led panels can also be temperature controlled. In that case, the LED luminaires are modified by removing their own power supply and connecting them all to the same power supply. This allows for infinitely variable temperature control.

Bathroom lighting with led wall lights

Shade of light for bathrooms

Bathroom lighting can be warm, neutral or cool. The light can be dimmable, but this does not change the tone of the light.

• Bathroom light tends to be more on the warm side (2500-3500K) to bring out all the warm wood tones beautifully.
• Sometimes colder materials are chosen for the bathroom and so the lighting is also cooler (3500-4500K).
• Very rarely a client will want cool (5500-6500K) light in the bathroom.
