    Led Plafond 240

    The dimmable and moisture-proof (IP54) UPPOAVA series led plafond 240 provides bright lighting and with its sleek appearance is suitable for general lighting throughout your home. The luminaire is damp-proof (IP54), so it can be used in damp areas and outdoors. A good alternative to spotlights.

    Technology

    The UPPOAVA PLAFONDI 240 17W luminaire is equivalent to two 18W fluorescent tubes, i.e. around 1200 lumens. The LED circuits are mounted directly on the body. This solution achieves maximum thermal conductivity and a safe operating temperature (below 50 degrees Celsius). The low operating temperature ensures a long lifetime of 50 000 hours.

    Colour rendering index (CRI) is over 90 and thermal conductivity is excellent. High quality components ensure that the light colour does not fade.

    The LED PLAFONDI 240 will not be affected by frost, rain or snowstorms if it is installed on the roof of a carport or terrace. The PLAFONDI 240 LED luminaire is widely used as a replacement for spotlights in general lighting both outdoors and indoors. The light provided by the luminaire is more uniform than a spotlight and is ideal for general lighting. In addition, the matt surface completely hides the LED circuits from view.

    The light colour can be selected from either 3000K (warm white) or 4000K (neutral white).

    Installation

    The luminaire is recessed and the mounting hole size is 225 mm. The luminaire body is aluminium and powder coated matt white with a matt acrylic diffuser.

    Each luminaire is supplied with its own power supply. The power supply has a quick connector for easy installation and is chainable. The power supply fits through a mounting hole in the false ceiling.

    The low operating temperature allows the luminaire to be installed against wood or plaster. The Led PLAFONDI 240 fits into a typical roof structure with only 48x48mm of reinforcement and 13mm plasterboard under the vapour barrier. We recommend installing a piece of board or plasterboard above the luminaire to prevent the insulation from sagging.

    The luminaire can also be surface mounted by ordering a surface mounting frame.

    Dimming

    Dimming is possible with TRIAC dimmers from the ENSIO side. Suitable dimmers include the Schneider EXXACT and ABB Jussi series dimmers that we sell. The floating plafond 240 18W luminaires can be connected to the same dimmer in the ABB Jussi series (70W) in 3 pieces and to the Schneider (300W) dimmers in 16 pieces.

    Each luminaire is supplied with its own dimmable power supply. A single power supply for one luminaire solves a problem specific to halogen luminaires: a single power supply is subject to heavy load, gets hot and breaks down the luminaires. We have moved the power supply in the UPPOAVA range of luminaires separately from the luminaire. This solution ensures a shallow installation depth and prevents the power supply from heating up the luminaire. The separate power supply can be placed within 5 metres of the luminaire. The power supply is splash-proof IP44 and has 230V in and 700mA out (for the luminaire).

    The LED luminaires are compatible with home automation (e.g. KNX and Talomatti) and work seamlessly as part of a smart home.

WHAT IS CRI, THE COLOUR RENDERING INDEX

High quality LED lights also have a high colour rendering index, or CRI. A good colour rendering index (CRI) for home use is above 90, and nowadays many market lights are unfortunately closer to 80.

CRI tells you how well an LED light displays colours as they should be. For designers and architects, as well as interior designers, it should be one of the most important considerations. Make sure the lighting is perfect so that your artwork is what it is meant to be.


Colour rendering index

The colour rendering index is expressed as a number on a scale from zero to 100, where 0 = no colour rendering and 100 = full colour rendering. The colour rendering index of LED lights is also known as Ra, which is measured on a smaller scale than CRI. This Ra value does not include red tones or skin tones, for example, so it is a 'glossed' figure for the true quality of an LED light.

RA value

The Ra value measures the reproduction of colours using eight different reference colours. CRI takes into account the wider (15) wavelength range, including reds and other warm colours.



The Ra value is calculated by cutting the wavelength range, weighting the blue and violet tones, and calculating the weighted average of R numbers 1-8.

Excluded from the Ra value are, for example, the colour rendering of bright reds, yellows and greens, and shades close to skin tone. These are described by R-values between 9 and 15. The following is a picture of a measurement result that easily confuses the consumer.
