a 2G7 bulb is a type of CFL with a four-pole stem, known as a 2G7 or plug-in stem. The lamp usually has a U-shaped miniature tube and also a transformer and a choke.

How to install LED 2G7

To install, the LED 2G7 is inserted into a compatible luminaire by aligning the pins and pushing it into place. Always ensure that the luminaire is switched off before installation. When replacing a CFL with an LED 2G7 lamp, take into account the condition and minimum load of the existing power supply. Not all power supplies will work properly with LED loads, as they are optimised for the higher load of the CFL. If the luminaire also has a choke next to the tube, then an electrical change must be made to allow the LED to be used in the luminaire.

Tips for extending bulb life

Avoid frequent on/off switching and ensure that the bulb is used in a suitable luminaire that does not cause overheating.

Troubleshooting common problems

If a new lamp flickers or does not light, make sure that the minimum transformer load is met and that the choke does not prevent the lamp from lighting. Also check that the bulb is properly in the cap, or consider replacing the bulb if it is nearing the end of its life.
