    Our HELMI LED strip has a luminous intensity of 18W/m and a staggering 240 LED circuits per metre. This makes the light very even. Even with a low aluminium profile, there is no visible spotting and the light is uniform. In this strip light we use SMD 3528 LED circuitry with a colour rendering index of a stunning CRI96. This LED strip is dimmable and suitable for use in dry areas (IP20). This LED strip has the equivalent luminous intensity of a 120cm fluorescent tube, so you will save a lot of electricity with this solution!

    Excellent colour rendering

    The CRI is a measure of how well an LED light reproduces colours as they should be. A high CRI value indicates that the luminaire reproduces a wide range of colours. The closer you get to 100, the more naturally colours are reproduced. This LED strip light has a CRI of up to 96, which ensures excellent colour rendering.

    Installation

    The LED strip comes in a 5m roll and can be cut to size in increments of 2.5cm. The strip has clear markings to make cutting easier. We recommend soldering the strips together, as we have found that the quick-release fasteners loosen over time and loosening causes the lights to flash. Both ends of the tape have pre-soldered connectors that can be used depending on the destination. We will be happy to help with any installation questions.

    We recommend powering from both ends if the ribbon is more than 10m in a continuous length. This prevents light loss and provides equally bright light from both ends. Both ends can be supplied by a single transformer if a thin wire is run alongside the profile. The actual power consumption of this strip is 18W/m, which should be taken into account when sizing the transformer. An electrician is good at this kind of work.

    Our LED strip is easy to fix with the 3M very strong adhesive tape on it. The LED strip should always be attached to an aluminium strip so that excess heat is conducted away from the LED circuit. This will prolong the life of the led strip. Aluminium profiles can be ordered from our online shop, where they are available in a variety of different types.

    The LED strip works well with solar power, boats and cars that use 24VDC, then a separate power supply is not needed. In other cases, order a power supply here: power supplies.

    Dimming

    To dim the LED strip you can use either a traditional rotary wired dimmer or our VaLO RF series wireless dimmer. When using a rotary conventional dimmer, the transformer of the LED strip must be TRIAC dimmable. The strips can also be controlled by DALI systems. Wireless dimming is perfect for applications where there is no wall switch for the luminaire, but the luminaire is powered by a constant current.

    In the case of a smart home, a Zigbee transformer and controllers for wireless control are chosen. In Zigbee transformers, the receiver is already built-in.

    With the VaLO RF wireless solution, you simply install the receiver between the LED strip and the power supply. You can then control the strip with wireless switches from wherever you want. The wireless switch is powered by batteries, which are easily replaceable. You can also mount the switch on the wall if you wish, but it does not need a separate power supply.

    Create your own light

    Why use an LED strip only for traditional applications when you can make a light from almost anything? Create your own wall light by bending the LED strip and the aluminium profile to the shape you want, or by fixing the LED strip to another heat-conducting material. Turn a mirror, table frame, trunk, table or chair into a lamp with the LED strip. A good design is half the job. WHAT IS CRI, THE COLOUR RENDERING INDEX

High quality LED lights also have a high colour rendering index, or CRI. A good colour rendering index (CRI) for home use is above 90, and nowadays many market lights are unfortunately closer to 80.

CRI tells you how well an LED light displays colours as they should be. For designers and architects, as well as interior designers, it should be one of the most important considerations. Make sure the lighting is perfect so that your artwork is what it is meant to be.


Colour rendering index

The colour rendering index is expressed as a number on a scale from zero to 100, where 0 = no colour rendering and 100 = full colour rendering. The colour rendering index of LED lights is also known as Ra, which is measured on a smaller scale than CRI. This Ra value does not include red tones or skin tones, for example, so it is a 'glossed' figure for the true quality of an LED light.

RA value

The Ra value measures the reproduction of colours using eight different reference colours. CRI takes into account the wider (15) wavelength range, including reds and other warm colours.



The Ra value is calculated by cutting the wavelength range, weighting the blue and violet tones, and calculating the weighted average of R numbers 1-8.

Excluded from the Ra value are, for example, the colour rendering of bright reds, yellows and greens, and shades close to skin tone. These are described by R-values between 9 and 15. The following is a picture of a measurement result that easily confuses the consumer.
