The history of GU10 lamps

The GU10 lamp was developed as a safer and more efficient alternative to the older MR16 halogen lamp, which used low janeite and required a transformer.

The "GU" in the GU10 lamp refers to the mounting type, which is a two-pin threaded locking mechanism, while the "10" stands for the distance in millimetres between the two pins.

The GU10 lamp was introduced in the 1990s and was originally a halogen lamp. However, as lighting technology has evolved, LED versions of GU10 lamps have become more widespread.
