Judged and peer-reviewed product design competitions have provided an excellent opportunity to test the appeal of the TUNNELMA product family. Below is a summary of the key stages in the product development of the TUNNELMA spotlight series.
Janne Halttu has been developing his own product family since the company was founded. From the beginning, the product development has been based on his own experience in building and installing luminaires. The requirements for TUNNELMA products included:
CCT luminaires had been on the market for several years, but they had generally used pre-fitted, fixed switches and had a colour rendering index (CRI) of around 80. The products were of limited design and plastic material and did not offer high quality colour rendering. While it is useful to be able to choose the shade of light at the installation stage, Janne wanted more from the luminaires.
"I wanted to make sure that when the interior changes, when new art is added to the wall or the carpet changes colour, the luminaires always bring out the best in the objects. So I designed a whole range of down lights that are beautiful, long-lasting, freely usable in any smart lighting system and with the best possible lighting quality, CRI98. The luminaires are easy to install, and because they are low voltage and have plug n play connectors. So no compromises!"

You can choose a transformer for your TUNNELMA spot based on your application and control requirements. Below you will find some information about the characteristics of the different transformers.
Choose a TRIAC dimmable base transformer when you want to use a traditional roll dimmer, or when replacing old 230V halogen spots with LEDs. Each luminaire comes with its own transformer that fits through the luminaire mounting hole in the ceiling. Includes a light colour temperature selector to choose the shade at the installation stage. Includes a chainable junction box suitable for both star and chainable installation.
For infinitely variable adjustment of light colour temperature and brightness, choose DALI 2, Zigbee or RF transformer. The size of the transformer is chosen according to the size of the group and usually requires a service hatch. The wiring from the luminaire to the transformer is done with a 3-pole low-current cable or a ready-made wiring harness.
Suitable for use in DALI 2 system, with DALI 2 control buttons. Most common in public spaces and new builds.
Suitable for use in Zigbee 3.0 systems such as Tuya, Azoula, Philips HUE and Home Assistant. For example, in the Tuya system, spots can be controlled by Tuya smart screens, mobile devices and wireless buttons. Can also be used with wireless buttons without a control system.
Controlled by wireless buttons. Operates with RF signal. Most common in renovation and smaller sites.
