What features of a light contribute to creating a cosy atmosphere?

Building atmospheric lighting requires choosing the right lights and carefully positioning and installing them. A number of lighting characteristics, such as dimming, colour temperature control, orientation of lights and colour rendering index (CRI), influence comfort.

Dimming option - LED lighting with the desired amount of light

Dimmable lights are the easiest way to create atmospheric lighting. By dimming the lights, you can create a sense of calm in the room. With LED lights, however, you need to be careful about which dimming techniques are suitable for dimming different LEDs.

For dimming by wire, it is advisable to choose dimmers specifically designed for LEDs, we have found in use that the major brands, known in Finland, such as Schneider, Ensto, and ABB, with RC and RL control, as well as selection of the light sub-level at the dimmer installation stage, work most accurately and flexibly with our lights dimmed with TRIAC drivers.

Another widely used dimming option is wireless dimming, where the dimmer itself is battery powered and requires no wiring. The third emerging dimming option is home automation. We offer all these dimming options with our lights to ensure compatibility.

Adjusting the colour temperature - transforming the mood

The colour temperature of the light has a significant impact on the atmosphere in a room. A cooler, higher Kelvin light is suitable for active work and to brighten up a room, while a warmer, lower Kelvin light supports relaxation and a calming atmosphere. An example of a general illuminated and dimmable light with adjustable colour temperature is the Round Directional 033, a 9W LED spotlight that can be infinitely adjusted to adapt the lighting to different situations.

Lights placement - balanced lighting without glare

The placement of lights affects the perception of the space, the overall impression and the distribution of light. When aiming for atmospheric lighting, it is useful to combine different light sources, such as spotlights recessed in the ceiling and indirect wall lights. Wall Eclipse wall lights, for example, are an excellent option for providing soft, diffused light. Indirect lighting reduces glare and makes the space more comfortable. The lights can also be dimmed and have an excellent colour rendering index. They can also be integrated into a smart home.

A high CRI, for example, helps to correctly see skin tones in the bathroom, and the true colours of food in the kitchen.

Soft atmosphere with lighting in the bathroom

Bathroom lighting combines both practicality and ambience. The right choice of lighting can create a pleasant and balanced lighting environment, suitable for both morning refreshment and evening relaxation.

Bright, focused lights above the mirror help in front of the mirror, while indirect lighting at the ceiling-wall junction, or under the cabinets, adds a softness and spa feel to the bathroom. For example, colour temperature adjustable and dimmable slightly recessed Round R023, 9W spotlights are an excellent choice for the bathroom. They are waterproof and can be placed over the shower and near the sauna.

Atmospheric lighting in the kitchen
