LED DIMMERS FOR WIRELESS AND WIRED DIMMING

LedStore's range of LED dimmers are of high quality and suitable for a wide range of lighting control applications. The stepless dimming of the LEDs brings convenience and versatility to lighting by allowing the lighting power to be adjusted to the desired level depending on the needs and time of day. Most of our luminaires can be dimmed. The information on the LED luminaire always indicates whether the luminaire is dimmable or not.

The dimming of LedStore led strips always depends on the transformer selected and, in the case of wireless dimming, also on the receiver. If the luminaire features colour temperature control or colour control, then a driver with the corresponding control features will be selected.

Wireless dimming RF and Zigbee

There are two options for wireless control of LED lights. Radio Frequency, RF dimming, which has been on the market for longer, and Zigbee, brought by the IoT world. Both wireless control methods require at least one controller and one receiver per group of luminaires.

Wireless controllers

Wall-button controllers are available in one-piece, two-piece and four-piece versions. The choice of controller is influenced by the characteristics of the luminaire, such as whether the luminaire has separate power control (dimming) and control of the colour temperature of the light (CCT) or the colour of the light (RGB). Wireless wall-mounted push-button controllers can be freely positioned wherever they are needed, as they are powered by the supplied button battery. Battery-powered controllers are reliable, and are very popular for controlling LEDs.

For wireless control, the range also includes remote controls for dimming multiple groups. There are models for the so-called monochrome LED strip, the colour temperature controlled CCT, and the colour changing RGB LED strip. Up to six groups of luminaires can be controlled with one controller.

Our most versatile solutions are a WiFi to RF converter that connects to your in-house WiFi network, or the VaLO Zigbee Hub / Box for Android / iOS devices, allowing you to control your lighting with your own apps and Android or iOS devices.

Wireless control receivers

Wireless control receivers are devices that are wired to a luminaire or luminaire group transformer and pair with a wireless controller. The receiver is installed either on the primary (230V) or secondary (12-24V) side of the luminaire or luminaire group. The receivers can also be pre-installed in a transformer (24V), in which case they are called RF or Zigbee transformers.

In addition to the distinction between primary and secondary, receivers are also classified according to the colour of the light they are intended to control: in the basic situation, white light is either warm, neutral or cold, i.e. monochromatic. The second option is receivers suitable for colour temperature control. The third option is receivers for RGB control.

There is also a wired dimmer with an additional receiver, i.e. the wired dimmer also provides a wireless connection to a remote control, for example.

Led strip control with a dimmer connected directly to the end of the led strip

In addition to wall-mounted dimmers, our range also includes flick switches and dimmers that can be mounted on the profile of the LED strip, so that the LED strip can be operated directly from this button. For use, the LED strip must be mounted on an aluminium profile. The switches are narrow, most commonly the width of the LED strip, so that they fit into the same aluminium profile as the LED strip.

Some of the switches have a blue light to indicate where to use them. There is no indicator light on the button switch, but a small operating button which is used to turn the light on and off and dimmed by a long press. A wobble switch for monochrome strip switches the lights on and off, while a wobble dimmer and colour temperature control for CCT lights are operated by an IR signal by moving the hand about 10 cm from the controller.

Wired primary side, 230V dimming

From a technical point of view, LED dimming in spotlights, panel and pendant luminaires and LED strip luminaires with TRIAC transformers is mostly done by primary (230V) dimming. In this case, the dimmer is placed before the power supply and the LED dimming takes place between the transformer and the dimmer. These are the traditional wall-mounted, rotatable LED dimmers, such as ABB's Jussi and Schneider's Exxact dimmers for LED luminaires, which are also available on LedStore.

Our self-imported VaLO series of wired primary dimmers, with their stylish glass frames, are also suitable for controlling colour temperature adjustable lights, and some also have Zigbee compatibility. Such a solution provides a reliable, wired control point, as well as supporting mobile operation with Zigbee technology and the possibility to program via a hub the desired lighting situations, e.g. lights to turn on and off according to the time of day.

Wired secondary, 12V and 24V dimming

The range also includes a few wired wall controllers that are wired from the low current side, such as controllers for colour temperature controlled luminaires and colour adjustable luminaires.
