    LED strip - FLAT, 17w/m 24V

Our flat LED strip has a luminous intensity of 17W/m and a staggering 240 LED circuits per metre. This makes the light very even. When mounted on an aluminium profile, there is no spotting and the light is uniform. In the Flat Light Strip we use SMD 3528 LED chips with a colour rendering index, CRI, of 97. The light does not glow or yellow but has a natural appearance. This LED strip is dimmable and waterproof (non-yellowing surface). The 17W/m flat LED strip is easily the equivalent of a 120cm fluorescent tube, so you'll save a lot of electricity with this solution!

3 different light shades are available. Halogen equivalent 3000K and a slightly more modern neutral white 4000K. And of course 3500K in between if you're not sure.

    Installation

The LED strip 17w comes in a 5m roll and can be cut to size every 2,5cm. The tape has clear markings to make cutting easier. We recommend soldering the strips together, as we have found that the quick-release fasteners loosen over time and loosening causes the lights to flash. Both ends of the tape have pre-soldered connectors that can be used depending on the destination. We will be happy to help with any installation questions.

We recommend powering from both ends if the ribbon is more than 10m in a continuous length. This prevents light loss and provides equally bright light from both ends. Both ends can be supplied by a single transformer if a thin wire is run alongside the profile. An electrician can do this kind of work.

Our LED strip is easily attached with the 3M very strong adhesive tape on it. The LED strip should always be attached to an aluminium strip to allow excess heat to be conducted away from the LED circuit. This will prolong the life of the LED strip. Aluminium profiles can be ordered from our online shop, where they are available in a variety of different types.

The LED strip works well with solar energy, boats and cars that use 24VDC, then a separate power supply is not needed. In other cases, order a power supply here.

    Dimming

To dim the LED strip you can use either a traditional rotary wired dimmer or our VaLO series wireless dimmer. Wireless dimming is perfect for applications where there is no wall switch for the luminaire, but the luminaire is powered by a constant current. With this system, you simply install a receiver between the LED strip and the power supply and control the strip with a wireless switch wherever you want. The wireless switch is powered by batteries, which are replaceable. You can also mount the switch on the wall if you wish, but you don't need a separate power supply. When using a rotary, conventional dimmer, the transformer of the LED strip must be TRIAC dimmable. For smart homes, choose a Zigbee transformer and controllers

    Create your own light

Why use an LED strip only for traditional applications when you can make a luminaire out of almost anything? Create your own wall light by bending the LED strip and the aluminium profile to the shape you want, or by fixing the LED strip to another heat-conducting material. Turn a mirror, table frame, trunk, table or chair into a lamp with the LED strip. A good design is half the job. We are happy to help you with your design, and we make LED strip made to measure at LedStore's LedShop.

  • Strip should ALWAYS be installed on aluminium profile for the led strip to cool down properly. Incorrect installation will void warranty.

LED strip comes in a 5m roll that can be cut to measure in every 2,5cm (marked). We recommend that you solder the wanted length together as we have noticed that the fast clips tend to loosen after few years and then the light strts flickering. There are plugs soldered to both ends of the strip that you can use, but it depends a lot of your desired use if you should use them or not. We will help you to figure out that.

Due to the led circuits are closely layed we have noticed and strongly recommend you to feed the power from both ends of the strip. This way you minimize the voltage drop and ensure that the whole strip illuminates even if there occurs light breaks during the assembly or during use. In addition with led strip you need also driver / s and aluminium profile.

All installations should be made on aluminium (ie. aluminium profile), that way the excess heat gets conducted away from led circuit and makes it last longer. The led strip uses 3M tape that you can attach the strip to the profile firmly. You can order aluminium profile from our web shop.

LED strip works well with solar power and in boats, as it is 24VDC, so you might not even need a driver!

Remember to order a driver unless it is for a boat or with solar power 24VDC.

WHAT IS CRI, THE COLOUR RENDERING INDEX

High quality LED lights also have a high colour rendering index, or CRI. A good colour rendering index (CRI) for home use is above 90, and nowadays many market lights are unfortunately closer to 80.

CRI tells you how well an LED light displays colours as they should be. For designers and architects, as well as interior designers, it should be one of the most important considerations. Make sure the lighting is perfect so that your artwork is what it is meant to be.

Mikä on CRI, eli Värintoisto indeksi

Colour rendering index

The colour rendering index is expressed as a number on a scale from zero to 100, where 0 = no colour rendering and 100 = full colour rendering. The colour rendering index of LED lights is also known as Ra, which is measured on a smaller scale than CRI. This Ra value does not include red tones or skin tones, for example, so it is a 'glossed' figure for the true quality of an LED light.

RA value

The Ra value measures the reproduction of colours using eight different reference colours. CRI takes into account the wider (15) wavelength range, including reds and other warm colours.

The Ra value is calculated by cutting the wavelength range, weighting the blue and violet tones, and calculating the weighted average of R numbers 1-8.

Excluded from the Ra value are, for example, the colour rendering of bright reds, yellows and greens, and shades close to skin tone. These are described by R-values between 9 and 15. The following is a picture of a measurement result that easily confuses the consumer.
