  • Product description

Colour-changing version of the Helmeile light strip. The RGB led strip has great colours and is also dimmable (with a dimmable transformer or receiver). Our LED strip is easily attached to the aluminium profile with the 3M very strong adhesive tape.

    For playful lighting

Our Helmeile RGB strip has a luminous intensity of 7.2W/m and 30 LED circuits per metre. This makes the light sufficiently even for indirect lighting in various spaces such as terraces, lounges, cinema rooms and dormitories. Also for creating atmosphere in sports and leisure areas.

When mounted on an aluminium profile, the spotlight is only visible when looking directly at the luminaire from the front. When illuminated indirectly through a wall, the light is uniform. The strip should always be mounted in metal to allow the LED circuits to dissipate their heat away from the circuit. This way the LED strip will withstand use and will not break.

    Installation

The LED strip comes in 5m rolls and can be cut to size every 10cm. The tape has clear markings to make cutting easier. We recommend soldering the strips together, as we have found that the pre-assembled barbed fasteners at the ends of the strip loosen over time and loosening causes the lights to flash. We have lever connectors available for RGB use, which are a good solution if you need to hide the wire. Both ends of the ribbon coil are pre-wired with 15 cm of four-conductor cable (RGB and +). We are happy to help with installation questions and make LED ribbon assemblies to your dimensions and needs in our LedPajka.

    Dim

For dimming your LED strip you can use the wireless dimmer of our VaLO RF-series. The strips can also be controlled by DALI systems. Wireless dimming is perfect for applications where there is no switch on the wall for the luminaire, but the luminaire is powered by a constant current.

In the case of a smart home, a Zigbee transformer and controllers for wireless control are chosen. In Zigbee transformers, the receiver is already built-in.

With the VaLO RF wireless solution, you simply install the receiver between the LED strip and the power supply. You can then control the strip with wireless switches from wherever you want. The wireless switch is powered by batteries, which are easily replaceable. You can also mount the switch on the wall if you wish, but it does not need a separate power supply.

We recommend powering from both ends if the ribbon is more than 5m in a continuous length, this will prevent light loss and give an equally bright light from both ends. The Led strip should always be attached to an aluminium strip so that excess heat is conducted away from the LED circuitry. This will prolong the life of the led strip. Aluminium profiles can be ordered from our online shop, where three different types are available. We do not currently offer transformers for 12V RGB ribbon, but RF or Zigbee controllers for 12-36V.

LED ribbon works well with solar power, boats and cars that use 12VDC, then a separate power supply is not needed.

WHAT IS CRI, THE COLOUR RENDERING INDEX

High quality LED lights also have a high colour rendering index, or CRI. A good colour rendering index (CRI) for home use is above 90, and nowadays many market lights are unfortunately closer to 80.

CRI tells you how well an LED light displays colours as they should be. For designers and architects, as well as interior designers, it should be one of the most important considerations. Make sure the lighting is perfect so that your artwork is what it is meant to be.

Mikä on CRI, eli Värintoisto indeksi

Colour rendering index

The colour rendering index is expressed as a number on a scale from zero to 100, where 0 = no colour rendering and 100 = full colour rendering. The colour rendering index of LED lights is also known as Ra, which is measured on a smaller scale than CRI. This Ra value does not include red tones or skin tones, for example, so it is a 'glossed' figure for the true quality of an LED light.

RA value

The Ra value measures the reproduction of colours using eight different reference colours. CRI takes into account the wider (15) wavelength range, including reds and other warm colours.

The Ra value is calculated by cutting the wavelength range, weighting the blue and violet tones, and calculating the weighted average of R numbers 1-8.

Excluded from the Ra value are, for example, the colour rendering of bright reds, yellows and greens, and shades close to skin tone. These are described by R-values between 9 and 15. The following is a picture of a measurement result that easily confuses the consumer.
