The LED Ribbon for Kitchen Cubicle Kit includes 5 meters of 17W/m LED ribbon (either 3000K, 3500K or 4000K), a suitable power supply, a VaLO series wireless push button (the button can be placed on the wall or kept detached), and a receiver to communicate between the power supply and the ribbon. The system is dimmable, making it easy to set the mood. This set also includes two surface-mounted aluminium profiles (length 2.5m per profile). The ribbon is not point-like, but the light comes in a steady stream, as there are a whopping 240 LED circuits per metre in this ribbon.
About
The luminous intensity of the 17/m ribbon is 1200 lumens per metre, in other words, it is very efficient. The base colour of the strip is white and the 3M special adhesive tape ensures good adhesion. The LED strip is 3mm thick, which means it is very unobtrusive. With this set you can replace 2 58W fluorescent tubes!
The LED strip can be cut at 25mm intervals and soldered together. The colour rendering index of the BALANCED ribbon is top class, 97! With this ribbon, colours are reproduced as they should be.
When dimmed, there may be some buzzing from the transformer. If the transformer is installed in a cabinet, for example, the buzzing is less likely to be disturbing. However, please bear this in mind when purchasing the product.
Installation
The tape should be bonded to metal, such as an aluminium profile (included in the kit), to allow heat to dissipate away from the LED circuit. Proper cooling will prolong the life of the LED.
With this led set you illuminate for example a 2,5m kitchen partition and install an indirect light on top of the cabinetry (2x2,5m). If you cut the strip and install it in a damp area, be sure to patch the open end with silicone. When you run two strips to the same transformer, you cannot use quick connectors, you have to cut the strip and connect it as wires (a basic thing for an electrician). With this setup, both pieces of ribbon light up at the same time.
For installations longer than 10 meters, a supply from both ends prevents light fading and the tape burns equally brightly the whole way. A single transformer can be used for both ends if a thin wire is run alongside the profile. An electrician can do this kind of work.
The receiver is mounted between the LED strip and the power supply. More detailed instructions on how to install the VaLO dimmer are included in the package.

WHAT IS CRI, THE COLOUR RENDERING INDEX
High quality LED lights also have a high colour rendering index, or CRI. A good colour rendering index (CRI) for home use is above 90, and nowadays many market lights are unfortunately closer to 80.
CRI tells you how well an LED light displays colours as they should be. For designers and architects, as well as interior designers, it should be one of the most important considerations. Make sure the lighting is perfect so that your artwork is what it is meant to be.
Colour rendering index
The colour rendering index is expressed as a number on a scale from zero to 100, where 0 = no colour rendering and 100 = full colour rendering. The colour rendering index of LED lights is also known as Ra, which is measured on a smaller scale than CRI. This Ra value does not include red tones or skin tones, for example, so it is a 'glossed' figure for the true quality of an LED light.
RA value
The Ra value measures the reproduction of colours using eight different reference colours. CRI takes into account the wider (15) wavelength range, including reds and other warm colours.
The Ra value is calculated by cutting the wavelength range, weighting the blue and violet tones, and calculating the weighted average of R numbers 1-8.
Excluded from the Ra value are, for example, the colour rendering of bright reds, yellows and greens, and shades close to skin tone. These are described by R-values between 9 and 15. The following is a picture of a measurement result that easily confuses the consumer.
